Dear Tricia,

I am Tony Hilfer's widow. We were married for the last 14 years of his life. I want to thank you for your absolutely wonderful piece on our beloved Tony. It is perfect. He would have loved it - as everyone who reads it does.

I am putting together a collection of the talks given at Tony's service. May I have your permission to include your piece? And may I put your last name and web site on the cover sheet for it?

If you e-mail me your last name and address, I will send you one of the booklets. I think you would enjoy the read.

With warmest wishes,

Jane Hilfer

Tony's widow, Jane Hilfer, is my sister. We were very close to Tony and miss him very much. Your thoughts about him are deeply appreciated by all of us. Thank you for taking the time to write.

Dear Trish,

Thank you for your illuminating comments about Tony Hilfer. His wife is my best friend, and I feel his loss deeply. I'd always thought he was a good teacher, but your illustrations made it real. What an irreplacable loss.

On another topic, I enjoyed your comments about getting into college. With a granddaughter who is a HS sophmore in Lago Vista, this is much on my mind, and I will send your comments to her.

Thank you for taking the time to remember Tony--I know his wife, Jane, will appreciate it. He lives in all of us whose lives he touched.

Best,

Sandra Gregor

I knew you were awesome when we met today, but truly? Reading through this? It just reinforces all that awesomeness. I mean ... wow. Wow.

We need to talk sometime about the education alternatives you mentioned today; I know my son isn't being served well where he is, and they don't have the options to help him further -- I would love to find something that would be able to help him excel, or at least give him a stronger foundation (and more confidence) to start.

I'm grooving on thinking through the whole bat thing from your more recent post; I may have to find that to read it.

Hi hi, Tricia--

That's weird, since I'm pretty sure I went to at least one World Heritage Site (Wieliczka Salt Mine) in Poland two years ago. Maybe I'm thinking of a different thing?

love you! -B
